CONFEX 2020 IN REVIEW
"The people who succeed are irrationally passionate about something"
Over 25,000 steps across two days, that was Confex 2020 doing another amazing job of bringing the live events industry together. This was my third Confex but my first as a visitor. If I’m honest I was a little overwhelmed when I first saw the floorplan; I had no idea where to even start!
The key takeaway for me from the two days was relationships; maintaining them and creating new ones. It was great to catch up with some old faces, meet new prospects and get up to date with the latest industry trends.
I particularly enjoyed the seminar with the owner of SilkFred who made all of us realise that achieving your dreams is possible with the right team around you and your passion and dedication. Something which strongly resonated with me.
The PA Show launched its Wellbeing area this year, a topic which has never been more important than it is today especially the seminar around Burnout. It impacts you not just mentally but physically and I am all too aware of how that feels after going through it myself 3 years ago. I’m now more in tune with my body and mind, and know that if I’m heading down that scary path again I have a cheat day watching Netflix and eating my favourite foods to pull myself out of it. It’s not selfish (as some people may think), it’s self-care that your future self will thank you for.
Walking around the show I came across many, many experiential companies. Those who aim to make your event stand out from the crowd. From printing your face onto your cappuccino to edible bubbles I’ve got plenty of food for thought for my next event.
Tasked with the challenge of relocating to a new venue it’s safe to say the team at Mash pulled it off yet again and celebrated their 25th birthday in style. Just one question, what’s on the agenda for 2021…?
