Googlies, Wickets & All Things Cricket

Live To Better The Lives Of Others

4.45am - Hit Snooze.

5am - slowly open my eyes and my first words are ‘Why am I doing this, again?!?’ Fast forward 12 hours and the reason is plain for everyone to see.

What am I talking about you ask? Sticky Wicket; the industry charity day where everyone in the live events world get together to play cricket, spend the day drinking and network to their hearts content all to raise money for The Lords Taverners.

With the money raised, the charity is able to help create more sporting opportunities for disabled and disadvantaged young people.

So despite the early start and the manual labour which commenced from about 8am in Regents Park, I was thrilled to be watching our corporate team battle it out on the pitch at 11am with a pint of prosecco in hand and the sun basking down on me. Yes the 5am start did have its perks!

But that wasn’t the only perk; as an industry we were able to raise £49,000 which will allow for a multi-sensory play area to be built for children with autism at a school in Camberwell. How amazing is that! That for one day we put our competitiveness in the marketplace to one side and this is what we can achieve. It certainly made the hangover worthwhile in the morning!

Whilst I supported this charity with my corporate client’s hat on, Xen is also proud to work closely with charities and support them in not only raising their profile and brand presence, but also funds to better the lives of others.
